Wow. Who knew the Apprentice was so Controversial?
Ok, so I was all happy about the win last night and thought that while the final minute or so was awkward, that Randal totally did what anyone who worked that hard would have done. Also: despite his mistake at not knowing the weather as well as he apparently should have in Caroline's eyes, Randal's mistake in NO WAY equaled what Rebecca did. She held a benefit that raised ZERO DOLLARS. Why? Because of HER ERROR. And in doing so, BLAMED A MAJOR SPONSOR ON AIR SEVERAL TIMES, making them look like giant losers, and costing them at least $100,000 in make up charity money. Who knows what other damage has been done to Yahoo in just viewing the absurdity of the three executives that were shown? I help plan fundraisers for a living. The last task of the Apprentice is always interesting to see for me because it's what we do in our office daily. And slighting your non-profit was a bad bad move. It's always got to be the mission of the non-profit first, with heavy showing of the major sponsors a close second. Sponsors get that because they look better in the end; they are there to show they believe in their community and to make nice with their employees and the community. It's what corporate events are all about. Randal got that; Rebecca was so drunk on Yahoo-tinis that she missed it. I mean, do you realize how much money she would have raised if she merely spiked the price of the Yahoo-tinis and donated those profits to the charity? That's not making a direct ask. Idiot.
So I went to work and discussed the finale with the usual suspects and we all seemed to agree.
Then I get home and check some internet sites and find out that Randal is now a "dick" for not "allowing" Trump to hire Rebecca too.
It's absolutely insane and while I hesitate to jump on the "it's racist" bandwagon, it does make you wonder why Trump is so eager to make Randal share the limelight when the only other time a double hiring made sense, it wasn't an issue. (And in my mind, Kwame's mistakes were not as bad as Rebecca's and he wasn't offered a job with Bill so there is credence to this racism theory.)
In the end Randal was a far better educated and experienced applicant than anyone, he'd won all his tasks, was consistently traded amongst the teams (who obviously saw his worth), hired back the better team (he brought back my girl Marshawn, y'all!), and came up with a save for the weather when it rained unexpectedly (and Caroline, with 30% chance of rain and the comment earlier in the episode that the storm was expected farther south, I can't blame the man for not coming up with plan z until he had to; it's not like he has the prep time that you do at your golf course).
Ok. I feel better now.
