Once upon a time I sat in my dorm room the last night before heading home for winter break and watched Rudolph with my cynical friend who deconstructed the whole thing for me (SANTA=SATAN?!).
It was a fun time.
Here's an article of similar spirit: After just watching it this special with J, who hadn't seen it in years and was shocked by some of it, I appreciated it even more.
Yes mom, I know. It's a kids thing. But a world with a miserable and mean Santa is just subversive and has to be laughed at as well as enjoyed for nostalgic reasons.
