What We Are Watching

Martha, Martha, MARTHA!

Last night's edition of Martha's Apprentice got a little tedious to me. Mainly because I officially hate Jim. He belongs on the other Apprentice. He's so scheming in a situation where it's been proven to be low-key through the early stages (Hello? All of the Previous Apprentice winners flew under the radar for as long as possible).

The task was interesting because the two teams approached it from two totally different positions. I'd really to to see these people find a way to market other than using flyers.
Martha was hardly on. Her appearance in the conference room was fun though. I loved when she threatened to throw that one woman out when the woman said she wanted to cry from embarrassment. Way to call her out on being overdramatic.

Martha's daughter is quite cool I think.

Next week: wedding cakes. I think the creative team could win this one if they could bind and gag Jim for a few days.

Return of Sebastian Bach

18 and a life to go-whoa!

Ok, had a Skid Row moment. It happens when Lane and her band appear on Gilmore Girls. I love Gil. He's no TJ. And tonight his inability to talk and drive was cute, as was his moment thanking the pastor. Good stuff.

I want a S'more wedding cake. I will re-marry J just to get a S'more wedding cake. Ok, there are other reasons I'd marry him all over again too but none related to Gilmore Girls.

The whole TJ story was again quite tedious. I love it when Luke rants and Lorelei watches and then says something important and they are just cool with each other. I like that she's still determined to marry Luke yet was finally honest that she's having a hard time with it (and the changes in her home) until things are right with Rory.

I love that Paris told Michel he was Canadian.

I know it's important for this downward spiral of Rory's to continue. It's very true to the character and what would happen. But it's painful to watch. How could you watch Rory's face as she witnessed the freshman class getting a tour, and not feel the pain that comes when you aren't returning to school for the first time, especially when you love it like Rory does.
I like that Logan was somewhat bored with Rory...I hope that helps to snap her out of this faster. I was kinda annoyed that suddenly this week she's chummy with her fellow community service workers, and somehow is the boss now?

I still love this show but I'm very much looking forward to next week when the two Gilmores FINALLY have a scene together.

PS I googled Rory Gilmore Sex Boat and got nothing!

It's a Protest-tacular!

Tonight on Arrested Development they quickly wrapped up how to keep George Sr. out of jail for a little while. He's now under house arrest and living with Lucille, who's making him into a sex slave. Providing ample opportunities for jokes about using their son Buster's rubber hand as a sex toy. Michael, meanwhile, gets launched into a silly storyline involving a small British neighborhood in Orange County that is somehow home to a scam that is the cause of all the families' problems. GOB (pronounced like Job, as in the Bible character) continues to avoid his son, Steve Holt!, this time by planning a magic trick to impress his father at George Sr.'s next hearing (hence the Protest-tacular!). Lindsey is relegated to nagging Michael to find a date, which he does in Charlize Theron, playing a Brit who is supposedly involved in the whole scam mentioned above. Tobiais continues to make homoerotic comments without meaning to while trying to find his next big acting gig (tonight's best: "I can't wait to sink my teeth into some leading man parts.") George Michael was barely on, as was Buster and Maybae was not on at all.

The best on-going joke was when George Sr. wanted to hire Andy Griffith (as himself, though he didn't appear) to be his lawyer. The prosecution brought in Harry Hamlin (as himself) to be a fake lawyer, too. Ron Howard serves as narrator so the inside joke of course is that Andy Griffith was his dad all those years ago.

I want more Buster! And more George Michael!

As for next week, it brings in another Ron Howard reference with Chachi: Scott Baio joins the show as the new family lawyer (now that Henry Winkler has his own show and can't play the family lawyer). His character is Bob Loblaw. I laughed so hard at that. (say it out loud: it's blah blah blah).
I gotta love a character named blah blah blah.

"The Hottest Judge on Television"

The best thing about taking a day off: People's Court.
I never knew I cared so much about landlord/tenant law.

Apprentice: The Original

It may be too late to even bother covering this but I was out on Thursday and just watched it last night.

Another potentially good season ahead of us. I'm still probably more psyched about Martha's version but that's cuz I, like kowens, could easily see myself as her Apprentice and have no desire to work for Trump.

Melissa SO DESERVED TO GO. I've never felt that strongly about an Apprentice this early before. She was lame. Her facial expressions, where she tried to let everyone around her know that she was amazing and they were losers, made me want to smack her up. I only wish that Caroline had brought up Melissa claiming that she was doing everything on the task when Trump was around. Perhaps she did but we weren't shown it, but that's a big payoff I'd have like to see.

The Men's Team was interesting to watch because they had that price point argument and a bigger deal should have been made of it. They were arguing that more classes at less money was better than longer classes...that the more they could fit in the better. But they only won by $11. If they had lost, it's possible that the longer class for more money would have proven to be a better choice. Just a thought.

Scenes from the rest of the season: BRING ON CHEWBACCAA!

Apprentice: Martha Stewart

Overall I liked it better than the Trump version.
I don't remember many people other than Jim, because he stood out as obnoxious. I loved the task. It was a real task, not just "go to Burger King and sell a burger."
The team that won obviously got it. The team that lost had tons of problems, beyond the eliminated person.
But seriously, next week: Who'd give up cuz they had to sell tulips?!?

Those Flashlight Things

Gilmore. I felt like the show didn't really pick up until Lorelei and Rory FINALLY had a mini-showdown at the end. The thing I love about this show is that I totally get where both of them are coming from. Lorelei is trying so hard not to be her mother, that she's alienating her daughter and breaking her own heart in the process. But Rory is so wrapped up in her own 20-year-old life (as girls her age are) that she doesn't get how her current bout of selfishness could possibly have hurt anyone, especially her mom. I totally get both characters right now but I'm still on the side of Luke, yelling from the rooftop that they two of them just need to talk it over.

Other than those scenes, though, I was kinda bored. Too much of TJ and Liz, not enough Michel or Paris.

Bonus Points for the Star Wars debate at the beginning.

I've Made a Huge Tiny Mistake

Arrested Development came back last night and man, I love this show. I feel like gushing about it and begging people to watch it is so uncalled for though...I'm beginning to see that almost half of what is so damned funny is only funny if you've watched it before. But then the other half of what's funny is worth it too. I just feel like a new viewer wouldn't get why I laugh my ass off at it so much.

So, the best parts? Was it Michael waking up next to his son, George Michael, in the cabin as it was being towed away by his father, still in his Blue Man Group makeup?
Was it Tobais, trying to prove to his wife that he was worth her coming back to him, by kissing Henry Winkler dressed up as a member of Blue Man Group?

I think it's gotta be the whole George Michael loves Maybae (his cousin but not genetically) who's finally in love with him but still makes out with Steve Holt, who she doesn't know is also her cousin (again, not genetically).
My only complaint? Not enough Buster. Though Buster's one big line was good ("I came out to the car to sleep because I didn't want my snoring to bother you. I left a tape of my snoring in my bed so you wouldn't notice I was gone.")

I heart Buster.

Wrapping up the summer.

Tomorrow is the last night of both Big Brother 6 and RockStar:INXS.

RE: Big Brother. I watched all the ups and downs this summer, missing only this past Friday night when I had to work.
Luckily, it turns out that I missed the ousting of the only tolerable person in the house. So while I watch tomorrow, I can't say I want either Ivette or Maggie to win. If I had to choose, Maggie it would be. But that's because Ivette is the most disgusting of the two.

Shockingly, I'm more into the RockStar finale. I started watching this show cuz it was on and nothing else was but I've definitely ended up enjoying it a bit. Now that it's down to the final three, and my favorite, Ty, is long gone I'll say this:

If JD wins, I'm not going to buy the next INXS album. I can't stand JD and don't see where he's improved over his Elvis impersonator days.

If MiG wins, I'd likely buy the next INXS album, but really hope that Marty got a record contract out of the deal. MiG makes me smile but he has a cheesy side I'm not sure of...

If Marty wins, I'd buy the next INXS album, but hope it doesn't ruin Marty's career.
