"Favorite Dancer" does not mean "Best Dancer"

In case you were wondering, I have not refrained from posting about the last elimination show of "So You Think You Can Dance?" as the result of a boycott due to the dismissal of Allison (although I am very unhappy about that). I have been moving and haven't had computer access since Thursday afternoon.

Along with Allison, Ryan was also eliminated. I am not surprised by that because he has struggled with non-contemporary dances. But, Allison? Really? Are you kidding me? Although I would have been upset had anyone but Natalie gone home. I am not sure if it was a matter of voters just liking other girls better, or perhaps people thinking she was "safe" and didn't need votes? I could see more people voting for Donyelle simply because she had a rough week and they didn't want to see her eliminated. It could be that Allison's suddenly straight hair confused people and they thought she was someone else?

Who knows. At this point, I am not sure what the voters are thinking, besides the obvious that Benji will eventually be crowned the winner.

By the way, that song that they play during the video memory after each girl is eliminated? I have had it in my head all weekend. And then the alarm went off this morning and it was playing that song. Freaky.

Another HOH

So Season 6 won yet another HOH contest. I wonder how long they can keep that up?

I think the reasons for getting rid of Jase over Will were valid. These guys all understand the game Will plays. Hell, they've likely studied it. So he's predictable and they can handle him, like Kaysar said. Jase? He was all over the place.

Jase seems to assume they'll be sending back a house guest again, like they did last year. I wonder why they'd play the same trick twice, though.

I think it's interesting that James is more loyal to Season 6 than his other alliances. Yet he still acts like he can't trust them either.

Should be a fun week. If I were one to spend money by text messaging votes, I'd definitely vote to wake them up every 15 minutes.

Dancing Cousins

This is going to be a somewhat incomplete recap because I left my pages of copious notes at home. (Not that I am composing this during work hours or anything!)

For some reason, the show changed the format again and this time each person had to dance two couple dances, but no solos. I was happy to see Mary Murphy and Dan Karaty back as judges. Those folks last week were such snoozers. Cat Deeley had a normal dress for the second week in a row. She didn’t seem to sad that Dmitry was gone, but then later they showed him in the audience, so that explains it.

The stars of the night were Benji and Heidi, cousins who were finally paired together. Their dances showed how beneficial it is to dance with a partner who is at the same level you are, as well as one that you have a lot of experience working with. They did Broadway and mambo. Luckily neither dance had very sexy moves, which would have been a little strange because of whole related thing. Benji was very into the Broadway routine and I could easily see him doing a musical. Both of their routines were extremely entertaining. I would be shocked if either of them go home.

Travis and Donyelle had a rough night with the judges. They drew hip-hop and the quick step. Their hip-hop routine was choreographed by Shane Sparks, who we have taken to calling "the kiss of death," because his routines can be very "out there" and turn off the fans and judges. This routine was no different. They wore masks during the whole routine; masks on the front and back of their heads. It was strange. I am not even sure what happened with the dancing because I couldn’t get past the masks (much like I couldn’t see past those weird white pants that Allison wore a few weeks ago). Their quick step was much more entertaining, but they had technical problems (not that I really noticed, but that should not be surprising).

Natalie and Ryan were good together, I thought, although the judges thought they lacked chemistry. They did disco and contemporary. I loved their disco outfits and enjoyed the routine. There must not be many "moves" in disco, though, because every disco routine on the show has many of the same elements. Their contemporary was great, as I expected, given their backgrounds. It is funny that it took this long for them to be partnered together, because Ryan wanted her as his partner since the beginning. He made a big deal about wanting her as his first partner back in episode one and didn’t hide his disappointment when he drew Heidi. I think he did better with Heidi though.

Ivan and Allison were reunited. They seem much happier when they are partnered together, don’t they? They did hip-hop and the Argentine tango. Their hip-hop routine had much better choreography than Travis and Donyelle’s. Allison had her hair straight. I like her better when it is curly (how is that for superficial judging?). Their tango routine was pretty entertaining, too. I really loved her dress for that dance.

I am really at a loss for who the fans will send home, so I hesitate to even hazard a guess. (Natalie and Ryan, maybe?)

I would not miss Travis or Natalie so I hope they leave. Any of the other females leaving will be sad. I am really nervous for my girl Donyelle.

Now that's more like it...

BB7 actually got interesting tonight.

Will is just a fool and totally transparent. But the whole BB6er trying to make others play the game thing really worked out. Cuz Chicken George stepped up to the plate and knocked it out.

My hopes are that Kaysar didn't screw himself for the sake of the alliance by giving up a chance to win the veto next week. A bold move.

Jase really blew it up and made Marcellas point out the obvious which was fun: they are all after Season 6.
I dunno. It'll be interesting to see if Jase or Will go...but please, Jase. You weren't backdoored. You coulda played a lot harder in the veto and protected yourself by winning it not protecting George. Duh.

Good News From Fox

From E! Online:

What spells summertime more than a cantankerous British chef and a group of aspiring dancers hoping to leap their way into stardom?

Nothing, according to Fox.

With that in mind, the network ordered up third seasons of the popular summer series So You Think You Can Dance? and Hell's Kitchen for 2007.

Even Donkeys Don't Serve Raw Chicken

So what's with Heather winning the fan vote each and every week? Is it because she gives the best confessionals? I think so. I also think it's because who else is there to root for? Keith? He's a doofus who wears his hat to the side of his head. Heck, even his hard hat tonight was off kilter to the side. I think his head is crooked.

Sara? She's a bee-yatch. I can't wait for her to lose. Her smirk is just atrocious.

Virginia? She's creative in coming up with new dishes but otherwise, blech. She's a little to into Ramsey for my taste, plus she talks way too much.

So that leaves us with Heather, cuz Garrett tried to serve raw chicken to a table so he's outta there.

Next week I predict the shocker will be that Heather is gone. Cuz anyone else isn't that shocking.

Tonight's best cursing? To Sara about the scallops in the non-stick pan.

Very Brady Finale

The finale of My Fair Brady featured their season-long planned wedding in Joliet, Illinois. The days leading up to the wedding, of course, featured another drunken argument. This time, Chris and his dad got drunk before (and during) a dinner with Adrienne and her dad, two nights before the wedding. The father was horribly rude to Adrienne, basically telling her she would ruin their marriage because she is so "disagreeable," which I interpreted to mean "has an opinion." He also told her that she could not succeed in life because she did not finish high school. Rather than stick up for her, drunken Chris nodded in agreement. He then got very angry because she was "disrespectful" to his father by sticking up for herself. Chris said he might call off the wedding.

The next day, Chris had to make a series of apologies to all of Adrienne's family (and Adrienne) for being such a jerk. After some counseling from their wedding planner (didn't quite get that), they seemed to patch things up. That afternoon, they had a get together for all of the out-of-town guests, including Cindy, Bobby, and Greg Brady. It was cute to see them all together. Chris had a chat with his father about the previous night, and the father said he didn't remember what he said. I think this was a cop out and he just didn't want to own up to it. I don't think he was blackout-level drunk. I don't think he ever apologized to Adrienne, but he did apologize to her mom.

The next day was the wedding. Adrienne looked great and her dress was more traditional than I thought it would be (although still very model-esque). The church did not have air conditioning and everyone was miserably hot because it was over 100 degrees. The ceremony was cute, though, I thought. Adrienne cried throughout her recitation of the vows and Chris smiled the whole way through. Their kiss was way over the top, but very them.

Barry Williams (Greg Brady) sang at the reception, which I thought was sweet. The rest of the reception looked pretty normal, although Adrienne did (accidentally?) flash the camera at one point. As they left the reception, the limo read "I bagged my Brady," which was a variation on the phrase "I'm gonna bag me a Brady," that she used when they were on the Surreal Life together.

It will be interesting to see how their marriage goes. Hopefully there will be a third season so we can watch it.

Question

NBC's airing of Project Runway on Monday nights reminds me that I don't have Bravo, and man, that's silly.

Other channels I don't have that I miss are TLC and Food Network. Though with Rachael Ray's new syndicated talk show airing on my rabbit eared tv this fall, I'm actually almost ok with the lack of Food Network. Almost.

What about y'all? If we could have ala carte cable and only get certain channels, what is your dream lineup?

WOW

Why couldn't BB6ers dominate their season as much as they are this one?

So there was a supposed confirmation of a weird alliance on BB7 that included Nakomis...so why is she out already?

Meanwhile, James won HOH for the first time. I'm concerned even though he's given me no reason to think he's after Kaysar or Janelle. I guess I'm having after effects of last summer. I think both James and Kaysar have adapted their gameplay well this season. Both are trying to downplay and become less of targets.

Of course, Kaysar's plan to try and make people play the game and not coast...I like it but I'm not sure it's working yet.

I wish they'd shown more of the effects of slop on the BBers...they only confirmed Marcellas has not eaten anything since he lost the food competition. I wish that they'd show how James and Janelle admitted to being cranky. They also had conversations about how the HOH would be harder for them because of a week of living with no real nutrition. I guess that didn't really come into play.

Maybe they didn't like his bare chest?

It is amazing that they managed to stretch five minutes of drama over who was going home on So You Think You Can Dance into an hour show. Gifted people those Fox producers. Just take lots of recaps and recaps of recaps, have people repeat their dance from the night before, add another star performance by someone else I haven't heard of and there you have it: an hour show.

So I was right with my girl pick: Martha went home. She just wasn't exciting enough for me, or I guess, the voters. (by the way, I did vote last night for the first time. Three calls for Donyelle, one for Allison)

The guy that went home is Dmitry. I am not sure why, because I thought the girls liked it when he took his shirt off (a lot). Maybe the girls that screamed at his bare chest didn't vote for him? I am glad Ryan stayed because I think he will only get better, but am not sure Dmitry was the worst dancer. Then again, they make it clear that this contest is about America's favorite dancer, not America's best dancer.

Anyone have any ideas on why Dmitry went home? It is funny that he was in the bottom three so many times and people assumed it was because of the performance of his partner, but I guess maybe all along the voters didn't like him, but the judges kept saving him. I felt bad for him when he went to do his final dance, because they got the music wrong-twice. First they played the theme music and then they played another song entirely (was it Ryan's solo music? it was too quick for me to tell). By the time they got the music right, he only had about 12 seconds to dance.

The Really Long Dancing Re-cap

I took notes as the show went along this week, so it ended up really long.

This week, the rules have changed. Everyone participated in two couple dances and one solo dance. They dancers also had new partners this week. Cat Deeley managed to have a dress that fit her properly, but came out at the beginning of the show looking like she needed to brush her hair. (Perhaps a pre-show backstage rumble with Dmitry?)

The judges this week over all were boring and pointless. The pair of hip-hop choreographers had nothing to say. Nearly every time they just echoed what the previous judge said and literally said “I agree with what Nigel said” at least five times. What a waste of my time. I stopped listening.

Couples
Martha and Ivan: They did hip-hop and a smooth waltz. I did not like the hip-hop routine at all: the music, the outfits, choreography, were all blah. Ivan did a good job. Martha is kind of boring to me. Their waltz was okay. Martha seemed a bit stiff, although I really liked her flowing white dress.

Travis and Heidi: First up the did the Paso Doble, which is a great dance style where the man is supposed to be a matador and the female is like his cape. They did a great job. Heidi was excellent. Their second dance was contemporary. It was an interesting routine. Heidi did great, although she cried in her interview that she was having trouble getting the choreography.

Ryan and Allison: They did contemporary, which is a good style for both of them. I like them as a couple, but I thought the choreography was a bit strange. The voters don’t generally vote for strange routines, so that makes me a little nervous for Allison. Next up they did a broadway routine, which I really enjoyed. I thought it was very cute and playful. The judges did not like it, though.

Donyelle and Dmitry: I was a little worried to see my girl Donyelle matched with Dmitry, because all of his previous partners have gotten kicked off. They did the Lindy Hop, which was a very up-beat, high energy routine. I thought it was great. Donyelle was fabulous as always. Their second dance was the Samba and it was great. It was my favorite couple routine of the night. They actually work very well together as a couple. Of course Dmitry had his shirt open again.

Benji and Natalie: They did a jazz routine. I did not like the routine, although I thought they both did well. Natalie had a lot of great twirls. I think they were both better with their previous partners. Their second routine was hip-hop. I liked the routine a lot, but Benji was not working it for me (think: swing dancer does hip-hop). Natalie was good, though.

Solos
Donyelle: She did great. She had some excellent booty-shaking in addition to all the good dance moves.

Dmitry: I was shocked when he began his dance with his shirt (gasp!) buttoned! He ruined it by ripping his shirt open at the end. Can we just have him dance with his shirt closed once!?

Martha: This looked exactly like a previous solo that she did. Not impressed. I am guessing she will be going home.

Ivan: He spent most of his dance sliding around the stage on those shoes that convert to roller-skates. Really silly and annoying. He did not showcase any of his skills at all. Maybe he is getting over-confident that the teenage girls will call and vote for him no matter what he does?

Heidi: I like her more each week. Previously she annoyed me a lot when she spoke to the judges, but in her interviews she is rather likeable now. She did a great dance, lots of hip shaking and great footwork.

Travis: He did pretty well. He is not spectacular to me, though, and I think he repeated some of his previous solo material.

Natalie: She spent the first 5 seconds of the 30 second routine sitting. Very strange. Then she danced around and I was bored. The judges said she was “passionate” and “emotional.” Maybe I am cold-hearted and just didn’t “feel it”? I noticed that she has a brace on one of her legs this week. I wonder what kind of injury she has?

Benji: This was his first solo ever on the show (he was never previously in danger of being voted off) and he did a great job. It was probably the most entertaining solo of the night.

Allison: She did very well. She makes everything look easy. I like her hair better curly though.

Ryan: He did a great job.

My predictions for departure: Martha and Travis

Why I could never be a salesperson.

On King of Cars, the episode focused on one couple’s buying experience. For those of you who don’t watch the show, usually each episode shows the goings-on at Towbin Dodge car dealership in Las Vegas and usually shows 4-5 car deals per episode, as well as whatever crazy antics the owner of the dealership, Chop, has in store for his employees (dunk tanks, talent shows, etc.). That is Chop in the photo.

This episode, however, followed salesman Tino as he tried to sell a new car to a couple that had been his very first car sale back when he started selling cars four years previously. That car just died and they needed a new one. (Why they went back to the same dealership to get a car when the last one they got only lasted four years, I do not know).

The problem was that they wanted a brand-new $25,000 Durango and they still owed $10,000 on their loan from their first car!!! Obviously the trade-in value was nowhere near that amount. The wife only wanted a deal if they paid $600/month. The first offer brought to them was over $800/month!! I could not imagine spending that much on a car. Although the couple clearly could not afford this car, Tino kept trying to work the deal. He had a lot of pressure from Chop because they were repeat customers and should be an easy sale.

Eventually the couple ended up buying a 2005 Durango and will still have monthly payments far above what they said they could afford. I do not think I could be a car salesperson because I could not convince someone to take a loan on a car when they can’t afford the payments. They should have gotten a less tricked out car (the one they ended up with had TVs, etc). It reminds me of the episode of “Roseanne” where Dan was a whirlpool salesman for a day and decided he couldn’t do it because he felt bad selling to a guy that could not afford it.

If you want some insight into the world of car sales, I would recommend this show. It is also rather entertaining and is worth a look just to hear Chop’s “rap” in the opening credits of the show. He even has an album. It airs on A&E on Tuesday nights, 10E/9C.

Rock Star

I'm not sure if I'm gonna bother writing about this one anymore. We'll see if it gets interesting. Right now, Dave Navarro and Tommy Lee seem too concerned with coming up with "shocking" statements that they fail to entertain. Meanwhile the entire cast seems to want to scream. They love Lucas (I think that's his name...) and I can't understand a word he screams and he honestly is completely unappealing to look at. Storm is hot, she's fun to watch and such and so is that funky looking woman who sang Zombie...but there are so many other people who suck and are totally inappropriate to front a band with these members that it's hard to watch.

Meanwhile the song selection seems stuck in 1992-94. I mean, it's funny to watch grunge be performed for rockers whose bands were killed by the very existence of that form.

BB All Stars?

I mean, it's cute that they show the stuff like Howie in the shower without a towel, but really, there is a lot more strategy talk going on in the feeds than they appear to want to show on CBS. But still, that whole thing with kaysar catching will at his own game? cool. Why I like Kaysar. he didn't back down.

To those who think his nominations are a mistake or that he did it because he's afraid of Will...in the end, if it's hypothetically Kaysar and Will, who is going to let a previous winner get it again!? Where the general theory that Will should go because he won already is an instinctual one, how about the idea that you want someone in the final two with you that no one else will vote for...just as you want the sequester house filled with your alliance so you let the alliance of two that is Will and Boogie stay, even if it means they do silliness and try to manipulate the game away from you: because you want that sequester house filled with voters from your alliance, which outnumbers Will and Boogie.

Another Donkey Gone...

Tonight on Hell's Kitchen, the kids had to create their own menus. The blue team screwed up by being too simplistic in the first challenge where they had to prove they could make a menu of fresh food for chef Ramsey; so they had to accept every delivery and unload the trucks. The Red team won by being ambitious and cooking items beyond the range chef had expected so they got to go out to eat with the chef. Truthfully, I think he'd rather spend the night on the town with a bunch of women but whatever.

So then they got to make their own menus and pit the teams against each other during the next night's service. The Blue team again kept it simple and (gasp!) completed service. The Red team again got ambitious and wouldn't you know it, they barely got service out. In fact the blue team had to help them.

In the end Maribel went home and it was only a matter of time. Much disappointment around this household when sara skated by...GRRRRR. I wonder what Ramsey called her during service when she continually screwed up the lamb...it was soooooo bleepy that I couldn't make sense of it.

Don't tarnish the Peter Brady image!!

This week on My Fair Brady, the couple had their bachelor and bachelorette parties in Las Vegas. They both got drunk and got into a fight. Wait isn’t that what happened last week? And the week before? I do not know why Chris keeps drinking. He seems like such a much nicer fellow when he is not drunk. For all of his talk about Adrienne being juvenile, I think that she is actually the more mature of the two. His friend Phil kept getting in the way and making everything worse.

There was some big drama when the other partygoers convinced Chris to go a strip club, something he absolutely refused to do while sober. He talked to Adrienne on the phone and she convinced him not to go because of his “image.” She was very concerned about what Brady Bunch fans with think of Peter Brady in a strip club. Apparently Brady Bunch fans watching his train wreck of a relationship with a (often naked) model is okay, though. It was really funny when she was yelling at him on the phone not to go to the strip club, because she was watching herself in the reflection of the wall as she spoke (working on her acting skills perhaps?)

The preview shows that next week should be the wedding. I am excited to see how the Rialto looks for their reception. I had two law school friends get married there a couple of years ago. It is a beautiful theater.

True Bridezillas?

Last night on Bridezillas, there was one couple where I actually feel that the woman's behavior was justified. Of course her story is not over yet, so maybe she will get worse. Her fiance acts like a child. If that were my fiance, I would be just as angry as she was.

During a bridal shower held at her work, one of her co-workers was making a nice toast. During it, the fiance, who was standing only 3 feet from the toast-giver, took out his cell phone, flipped it open, looked at something, and then closed it. The "Bridezilla" did not even notice because she was paying attention to the toast, but this showed what a jerk the guy is. He also made some inappropriate comments (given that it was a work shower) and then acted like she was wrong to be upset with him.

A few days later, while he was supposed to be helping to decorate the hall for the reception, he was busy balancing a folding chair on his chin and then disappeared. All the "Bridezilla" did was yell at him for not helping. I could understand her frustration because she only had a couple of friends there to help her set up and they were running late to get to the rehearsal dinner. He didn't see what the big deal was and actually called her a bridezilla. This was one of the rare times that someone (other than the host) used that word on this show.

The other woman featured on this episode was rather dull. All she really did was talk about how the most important thing was that she needed to look good and she yelled at her mom for not wearing the right clothes to her bridal shower. They spent $120,000 on their wedding. While that is way more money than anyone should spend on a wedding, during one of the commercials for another new wedding show, one couple spent $30,000 on the flowers alone!

I think this show may have peaked early this season with the very worst brides appearing in the fepisodes epsiodes. They have gotten tamer as the season has gone on. Or have I just started to understand them more because I am becoming one of them!?!!? Let's hope not.

King Kaysar?

I enjoy the idea that Kaysar nominates people just to see who will align where. Will this come back and bite him in the butt? I'll bet yes. The thing is, Will is right: on one hand they should all be ganging up on him and getting him out ASAP. On the other, who better to bring with you to final two than he? Will fellow BBers really give it to him again? Plus the idea of getting rid of all the players who play under the radar and coast to the finals is a great one and it protects the two major alliances and will eventually pit them against each other. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the end and if Kaysar's plan backfires. It ended seemingly with him willing to use the veto if needed; like he put up Nakomis and Diane to see where people would fall.

And the disappointment begins...

This week was my first disagreement with the judges' dismissal on "So you think you can dance?"

I realize that it is getting down to all good dancers, so it is more difficult for them to choose who should go home. My problem with Musa's dismissal (besides that fact that they rushed it at the end because they were running out of time, yet we had a useless three minute clip earlier in the show about how much the Pussycat Dolls love the show) was that it continues the judges' pattern from last year of valuing ballroom dancers over breakers/hip-hop dancers. Even though Dmitry is not that great at pop or hip-hop he gets to stay. Because Musa hasn't learned ballroom styles well, though, he is sent home.

Starting next week who goes home will be in the hands of the viewers. Crap. I suppose that means Ivan is going to win, because the girls love him. And they will probably vote off Allison because she gets to dance with Ivan and they want to dance with them. Either that or Benji will win for the same reasons. Then again, apparently they are all changing partners, so maybe that won't hold true.

Anything for a husband!!

I was watching Bridezillas yesterday and they repeated a soundbite from one of the women that had aired on last week's episode. I had hoped when I heard it the first time that I had just heard wrong, but last night's re-airing of the segment confirmed it.

The bride in question had been overweight. She told the camera how she had done some "crazy" things to speed up her metabolism. She stated that she had lost 80 pounds in 3-4 months time. The tone in her voice, as well her expression, showed concern about what she had done and I think her next line (had they aired it) would have been how she regretted the drastic measures she took to lose all of that weight so quickly. Instead, the chipper voiceover woman stated, "She lost the weight and soon gained a fiance!!!!!"

The lesson here ladies: do whatever it takes, even sacrificing your own health, so long as it result in a husband!!!

Despite my major problems with this show, I cannot wean myself off it. Luckily I will have to go cold turkey when we move because we don't get the WE channel at our new apartment. That gives me two more episodes!!

Hanging with the cool kids

Hi everyone! I will now be a contributor to this fabulous television blog. Since it is summertime, I am watching a lot of reality tv shows. Here are the shows I hope to cover on this blog over the next couple of months:
So You Think You Can Dance?
Bridezillas
The Hills
King of Cars
My Fair Brady
Laguna Beach Third Season (which starts in about a month. I just saw the preview for it yesterday)

I am going to re-post a couple of posts on here that are from my other blog to get me off and running.

What up KAYSAR!?

So Alison is gone and the house didn't divide. The votes were pretty lopsided. Most importantly, we're back to one HOH for this week and it's KAYSAR. Go Kaysar, go! I only hope that he's learned from last year and will not make too many major power plays in his week. Do something small like go after Chicken George or someone not on the radar. On the other hand, going after Will seems to make sense as he's the one who invented how to play the game in its current state. I just don't know but I'm happy that Kaysar will be around for one more week at least.

Rock Star: The Vote Off

I think that one girl shoulda gone home because she sang the exact same version of the same song from last night.

I don't like Jill because she's not a very good singer but she's a blonde like the Tommy Lee ex wives club so that's why she's still on.

Chris was voted off by them, likely because he hit the bottom 3 two weeks in a row; still he was the best of the three from tonight.

There's no point in watching if they are going to sing the same songs from the night before, though...

Supernova

I still think the women are the strongest in this competition.

I'm not sure I'll keep watching much longer though if they keep up the screaming. It's hard because the band keeps telling the singers to bring it on hard or however they want to phrase it. And I don't know that any of these singers is good enough to pull that off and be watchable. They also have to realize, as I said before, that their type of music isn't the most popular so they shouldn't push so hard or I bet no one watches.

Meanwhile the thought hit me tonight that they should just use Jordis or Ty from last year.

BB All Stars

So I'll admit to reading recaps of the live feeds on Big Brother. Every once in awhile. So I knew ahead of time that Janelle won the power of veto and likely wouldn't use it. But this time around, maybe because I'm not reading them closely, maybe because the house isn't as cut and dry as last year, it's hard to figure out the alliances and who is lying and who is working together. And tonight's episode did nothing to make it clearer.

But alas, it was fun to watch. I hope that the attack on BB6 goes away. Only because it's fun to watch Howie and janelle and kaysar and james and I want to see one of them win.

Alison needs to go.

Donkey Kitchen

Oh Chef Ramsey. You know how we love you so, especially when you call your cooks "donkeys." Such fun.

Tonight was the wonderful taste test portion where chef determines that none of his cohorts know what things taste like. He told them he had pate when it was hot dogs; he made fondue of spray cheez. THat wacky chef.

Rachel went home as I suppose she should have. I think the cooks this year are more deviant than last year. She tried to pass off well done meat as medium by painting with sauce. At least she knew to do that. But still it's kinda odd how bad all these guys are. Last year they weren't quite this incompetent.

Donkeys.

Big Brother

So I hope they don't really just go after the Season 6 players. I loved when James said he trusts Jase more than Kaysar or Janelle...yet Jase is not telling him anything close to the truth.

I can tell I will enjoy this season. You've got players who really know how to play the game. Will? Totally right in that they were all dumb for not nominating him. Duh. He won already? Jase. Completely right that risking his power position of HOH woulda been dumb. Alison...so dumb for being so overt so fast. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I just hope Kaysar, James and Janelle can hang in there for awhile. I fear that George will be around simply because he's so not a threat. Man's not even playing the game.

Oh and so relieved that Ivette is not in that house.

Rock Star Song Choice Blah blah blah

I guess they had to use some reason to kick off one of those three. I don't think I was much impressed by any of them.

Big Brother All Stars

Starts tonight and I'm looking forward to it. I know who is in the house cuz I read the spoilers from the "accidental" live feeds that went live on the Fourth. But I fear that certain obvious alliances will be broken immediately and it won't be as fun to watch as I'd hoped.

Rock Star: Supernova

I really resisted watching this show last summer but got hooked and I'm about to be hooked again. I think this show is far superior to American Idol. The talent is much better and I like the music better too.

What won't be good? The lame banter where they ask why singers are choosing mellow songs when they are a "dirty rock band" and "we're a hard rock band..."

Well guys, hate to tell you but we know the truth. Without singers singing more middle of the road hits, you won't have viewers. Supernova may evolve into a hard or even heavy metal band, considering the founders are all metal band members from the past...but is that music really all that popular? Would I tune in to watch singers singing nothing but metal?

Uh, no.

That said, the women stood out this year. I think it's easier to see a woman fronting this band than INXS from last year. So maybe a woman will win. I think the first singer and then the one who did the Nirvana song are the ones to beat.
